Caleb Witvoet
Caleb Witvoet (b. 1997) is an emerging artist and woodworker based in Edmonton. The body of the tree is present throughout his interdisciplinary practice in jewellery, photography, animation, print, performance, and installation art. Themes of religious practice, environmental collapse, and industrial production all seem to come out of the woodwork. He is represented by the L.A. Pai Gallery in Ottawa for his works in contemporary jewellery. Caleb completed his BFA at the Alberta University of the Arts (2020) and his MA at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (2024).
Caleb’s work was last exhibited in Estonia at Koidu Seltsimaja following participation in the BEAMS artist residency (2026). Before that, in the Netherlands at the Hotel Maria Kapel (2025), Paradise (2024), Nest (2023), and in Canada at the L.A. Pai Gallery (2022) and Marion Nicoll Gallery (2020). His writing was published in Mnemotope Magazine 008, by Brussels-based Bog Bodies Press.
In 2025, Caleb was artist-in-residence at the Hotel Maria Kapel, a 16th-c. Dutch chapel turned contemporary art centre. His project to mirror the chapel’s arched ceiling with a handcrafted miniramp in maple was funded by grants from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Canada Council for the Arts. In conjunction with the residency, he also developed and taught three DIY-skateboard youth workshops. The Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem took notice and invited him to repeat the workshop in double set for their youth art education program.
