EMMA GREGORY
Emma is a contemporary jewellery designer based in Antwerp. Her studies took her across Europe, from Scotland to Germany and finally to Antwerp. She has roots in Canada and Belgium, and uses music as her primary source of inspiration.
"My artistic practice focuses on two things: traditional musical notation and how it has developed, and artists who have historically let music influence their art. This research leads me to create systems for transcribing electronic dance music using shapes and symbols based on the visual elements of music production techniques. I then use these shapes in my work to create wearable scores. Some forms represent an element of the music, such as the percussion, harmonies, and vocals. Other forms are inspired by hidden elements of music production such as ADSR curves, automations and FM synthesis."
